Qkine neuregulin 1 (NRG-1) is as biologically active as a comparable alternative supplier protein
Human NRG-1 protein (neuregulin 1) is frequently used in the maintenance of human pluripotent stem cells. In addition to its widespread use in stem cell culture media, NRG-1 (also known as Heregulin-β1 , HRG-1) has essential roles in vivo including in nervous system, cardiac, and mammary gland development; cancer biology and neurological disorders.
Qkine NRG-1 is the 7.5 kDa highly pure, bioactive domain of human NRG-1, comprised of the β isoform of the EGF-like domain of NRG-1 (HRG1-B1).
Qkine NRG-1 bioactivity
- Qkine NRG-1 (Qk045) was bioactive in a quantitative assay with an EC50 of 0.5 ng/ml.
- This was comparable to bioactivity of NRG-1 from an alternative supplier, which had an EC50 of 0.56 ng/ml.
Qkine NRG-1 was as bioactive as NRG-1 from an alternative supplier. Recombinant NRG-1 activity was determined using the Promega serum response element luciferase reporter assay in transfected MCF-7 cells. Cells were treated in triplicate with a serial dilution of Qkine NRG-1 (Qk045, green) or Peprotech NRG-1 (Supplier B, black) for 4 hours. Firefly luciferase activity was measured and normalized to the control Renilla luciferase activity.
Qkine recombinant proteins have the advantage of being highly pure and animal origin-free, giving lot-to-lot consistency in bioactivity for long-term reproducible culture of pluripotent stem cells and organoids.
All our recombinant proteins are animal-free and come with Bioactivity. Guaranteed.
